Long-Term Trusted Employee
This article from BancInsure is sort of special to me because it highlights one of the first lessons I learned when I started insuring financial institutions.
As a rookie insurance rep years ago, I wanted to learn all of the areas of exposure to a bank. And, as one would expect, I wanted to know the most commonly filed claims. When told that an embezzlement loss would almost always be via the bank’s long-time and most trusted employees, I didn’t believe them. How could someone be around long enough to earn their position of trust and still be stealing from the bank? Surely those who embezzled money were those shadowy people who moved from place-to-place until caught. I soon learned, and am still in disbelief, when it continues to be the rule and not the exception.
